The collection of historic Dutch Steamtram rolling stock
Throughout the year we organise special trips and events. With our historic collection of Dutch steam engines, carriages and goods vans, we illustrate and demonstrate the history of the 'steamtram' (light railway) in our country.

Wooden carriages
In the timetable the trams numbered 3, 4, 21, 22 consist of the original wooden carriages and goods vans which, at the beginning of the 20th century, were characteristic of Dutch steamtrams. Some of these trams (21 and 22) will be hauled by one of the typical Dutch square-type steamtramlocomotives, which can only be found at our Museum.

Thematic trams
Furthermore, a number of thematic trams will feature. They will focus on one of the many steamtram companies that were to be found all over our country. Please call or e-mail for more information. The theme for 2012 will be "125 years of trains between Medemblik and Hoorn" with a re-enactment of the original 1887 timetable on May 17th. Furthermore, 2012 will bring another 'war on the line' weekend: June 16th & 17th, bringing back the 1940-1945 war years.
Spring holiday 2012
On April 8th & 9th, during the spring holiday season (April 28th - May 6th) and on May 27th & 28th, the blue timetable will be in operation, featuring trains leaving Hoorn at 11 and 14.00 hrs, returning from Medemblik at 13.30 and 16.30 hrs.
The first train (1/2) consists of 4-wheel coaches; in the second (3/4), our historic wooden 8-wheel tram coaches will be used, together with a selection of historic goods stock.

2011 special events:
Gooische Stoomtram
Tram engine no. 18 with matching coaches 21 & 22.
Further information:
A special exhibition featuring the Gooische Stoomtram will be held in the Hoorn workshop/engine shed, from July 23rd - August 21st 2011.
July 5th 2011- Bluebell Railway member Dave Phillips, who spends his summer holidays at the Museumstoomtram, works on the model of Gooise Stoomtram motorcoach No.14, in preparation for the exhibition. |
